Prospective Marriage Visa

This visa lets you come to Australia to marry your prospective spouse and then apply for a Partner visa.

With this visa you can

stay in Australia for 9 to 15 months from your visa grant date
work and study in Australia.

You must:

be 18 years old or older
have a sponsor who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
intend to marry your prospective spouse before the visa period ends
be outside of Australia when you apply for this visa, along with any family that apply with you
be outside of Australia when we decide your temporary visa or if you are in Australia, you must meet additional criteria - see 'Visa outcome' at Step 5 in the 'Step by step' tab.

Aged Parent Visa

This permanent visa lets an aged parent of a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen stay in Australia

You must:

You must have an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
be old enough to receive the age pension in Australia
not have already applied for or hold a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (subclass 870) visa when applying for this visa.

Partner Visa

Allows the partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia. Subclass 820 Temporary visa leads into the Subclass 801 Visa, which allows you to stay permanently.

You Must

You must be in a genuine relationship with your spouse or de facto partner who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
have your spouse or de facto partner sponsor you
be in Australia when you apply for this visa. Family who apply with you must also be in Australia be in or outside Australia when we decide your temporary visa application.

Contributory Parent Visa

This permanent visa lets a parent of a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident of Australia or eligible New Zealand citizen move to Australia.

You must

have an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, Permanent resident or Eligible New Zealand citizen, unless you are applying for the Retirement Pathway
meet the balance-of-family test, unless you are applying for the Retirement Pathway or hold a subclass 173 visa
have an Assurance of Support, unless you are applying for the Retirement Pathway
not have already applied for or hold a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (subclass 870) visa when applying for this visa.

Child Visa

This visa allows a child to stay in Australia permanently and live with their parents.

The child must:

be a dependent child of a parent who is an Australian citizen, eligible New Zealand citizen or holder of an Australian permanent visa
be under 18 years, a full-time student aged over 18 and under 25, or over 18 and unable to work due to a disability
be single and dependent on the parent
be in Australia when the application is made and when we make our decision
